As I’ve mentioned, my boyfriend and I have decided to make a list of all of the cool things we plan to get out and do together. This includes going to a lot of places and doing a lot of things I’ve never done, even though I’ve lived in the Lower Mainland all my life. I am definately excited about all the adventures to come. So, here is my list of all the things I would like to do this summer. I know I haven’t yet talked to my boyfriend about all of them, but I’m sure he’ll agree this is going to be an amazing summer full of fun in the sun (and hopefully some in the shade too).

 - THE LIST -

MY UPCOMING SUMMER ADVENTURES

PLACES TO GO AND SEE:

Whistler MountainI’ve never been to Whistler and I’ve heard there’s so much more to do there than ski, so this is one I definitely can’t wait to check out before the coming Olympics completely change everything – if it’s not already too late.

Grouse Mountaintake the Grouse Mountain Skyride up to the top and go check out all the cool things they’ve got going on up there, including the bears and wolves at The Refuge for Endangered Wildlife. I definitely have to do the paragliding and maybe even try the new ziplines that’ll be opening up this summer.

Stanley Park & the Vancouver Aquariumthese just go hand in hand. A good long walk along the seawall or some hiking through the forest…a trip to the Aquarium to check out all the cool marine life they’ve got on display there…maybe we can even take a ride on a horse-drawn carriage – now that would be really neat.

Granville Islandhow about a mini-ferry ride over to Granville Island where we can check out some of the neat shops they’ve got there and have a fancy dinner in one of their extravagant (and a little over-priced)restaurants.

Capilano Suspension Bridgepretty basic… I want to go to Capilano and take a walk over the world’s longest suspension bridge. I did it once when I was 10, and I think it’s time to go back and enjoy it. I also want to check out the new Treetops Adventure.

Wildplay Elements Park - I guess this one will be an overnighter, since it’s over on the island, but a day full of tree-top adventures in their Aerial Adventure Course sounds kinda neat, zip-lining and maneuvering through all the tree-top obstacles. Ok, so I’m sure I’ll chicken out after the first one or two parts of the course, but it’ll still be worth it.

Victoria - yes, another day in Victoria. Maybe we can even make it a weekend this time. I actually want to go on that little ferry and do the whole tour and maybe even the whale watching tour. There was so much to see there that we just didn’t have time for.

Widgeon Creek - my first canoeing experience. This is gonna be so awesome!  I really want to learn to canoe and I’ve never even been near one before, so this is going to be quite the trip.

Grace Lake - a weekend camping at Grace Lake, where we’ve got our own private campgrounds and everything… almost sounds too good to be true. This is going to be awesome!

Deer Lakepeddle boating, canoeing, I wanna do it all…

Fantasy GardensI haven’t been, so I think it would be neat to go out and see the gardens there

Bridal Falls - just a fun little side trip…

Shannon Falls - …and yet another excuse to get out and enjoy nature

Cultus Lake Water Park – a day of fun in the sun

Wreck Beach – ok, gotta do it at least once in my life

Dinner Cruise - a dinner cruise around English Bay… gotta save up for this one

Of course, I will update this list as I’m thinking of more things that I want to do and more adventures I plan to go on this summer, so stay posted and lets see how much I can actually accomplish this year.

Grouse Mountain eh? How about doing the grouse grind up and taking the tram down? hehehe

Whistler, eh? If you wanted to see that before the olympics change everything… TOO LATE! Things are happening so fast there that it’s changing every day, especially the road out there.

Wildplay Park? I thought I’d have to drag you there unwillingly!

And if you really want to learn how to canoe, as opposed to just going for a casual paddle, I will gladly make an expert canoeist out of you. It’s fun and easy, and I’ll finally get to put all my training to use again! I can’t wait.

Yeah, Grouse Mountain – and come on, do you really think I can do that? I really do have to ease myself into the whole hiking thing or I’m going to end up in the hospital from an asthma attack. And Whistler, well, of course it’s already changing, but I really want to get up there before the Olympics.

As for Wildplay Park, I don’t know where you got that I didn’t want to go. Maybe it was the fact that I knew I wouldn’t be able to get through the whole thing (only becuase I’m too much of a chicken) but I am so wanting to check it out. I’m not afraid of heights at all, just the difficulty itself in the last part(s) of the course. I know I’ll love the easy stuff.

And the reason I want to learn how to canoe is because, not only would I love to be able to go for a casual paddle here and there – without you having to be the one doing all the work – but I also would like to maybe be able to do some serious canoe trips with you in the future. I’m sure that makes sense considering the stuff you like to do. So, yeah, if you’re willing to teach me, I want to learn.
